When an item is entered on a sales order, its defined sales unit of measure is assigned on the order line by default. You can manually change this unit to Anywhere Mobility Solutions other alternative unit of measure that exists for the item. When you change the unit of measure on a sales line, the sales price is automatically recalculated based on the relationship between the two units. If an item sells for $100 a pallet but you have also indicated that there are 20 cases to a pallet, changing the unit of measure on a sales line from pallet to case causes the program to calculate the unit price as $5.
The ability to use alternative units of measure on sales lines lets you meet certain customer demands. In the scenario above, a customer may not require a full pallet and only wants to order a few cases. A potential drawback is that the company is now left with an incomplete unit of the sales item. The leftover cases must be either sold separately or repackaged into another pallet.
To encourage customers to order items in full units, a company may want to add an extra fee to the price of an item when it is sold in a unit of measure other than the intended sales unit. Achieve this by assigning break charges to an item's units of measure.
Break charge definition
Define break charges for an item on the Item Units of Measure page. A break charge can be defined as either a fixed amount or as a percentage of the item's price.
The program uses the break charge settings assigned to a unit of measure when the unit is entered on a sales line. Break charge amounts are added to the unit price after Anywhere Mobility Solutions preliminary price calculations are made. Using the previous example, if a break charge of $1 is defined for the case unit, entering a sales line with this unit of measure causes the program to first calculate a $5 price based on the relationship between pallets and cases, then add the break charge amount, resulting in a unit price of $6 a case.
Sales prices
After break charges are defined, activate them for specific sales pricing parameters. On the Sales Prices page, select the Use Break Charge field on Anywhere Mobility Solutions sales price lines for which you want to allow break charges. This lets you select the particular pricing conditions for which break charges are applied to a sales order.
Break charges must be enabled on the Sales Prices page before they can affect sales prices. If the unit price on a sales line is not obtained from the Sales Price table, break charges cannot be included.
