You can create a rental type as part of a product. Each product can have its own rental type. For example, the product 'Air Pro Plus' has rental type 'Air Pro Plus'.
You can also link one rental type to several products. This applies when there is no distinction within a product category. For example, a customer rents a 'medium' car type and receives a Fiat500L or a similar vehicle.
You can assign a rental type group to a rental type. The rental type group defines prices in rental agreements. For example, the 'Air Mattress' rental type group sets the same rental price for all its products, such as 'Air Pro Plus' and 'Optima Mattress'.
Rental types include a rental posting policy. This policy defines the steps in the rental process. You apply the policy to rental transactions and tailor it per item or product. For example, one item may need warehouse picking, while another does not. The policy also separates processes for sales and purchases.

Create a rental type and assign it to a product to make it available as a rental item.
The following rental type classifications are supported:
Bulk: For rental items without serial numbers.
Serialized: For rental items that include serial numbers.
Virtual: For kit-based rental items. See flow Create and maintain kit for more details.
Procedure
1. Go to Business objects > Setup > Rental types.
2. Click New.
3. In the Rental type field, type a meaningful name..
4. In the Description field, type a meaningful description..
5. Expand the Setup section.
6. In the Classification field, select an option.
7. In the Rental posting policy field, enter or select the desired rental posting policy.
8. In the Rental type group field, enter or select the desired rental type group.
9. In the Invoice profile field, enter or select a value.
Note: You can define an invoice profile. If you do so, it overrules the invoice profile of the customer on rental quotations and rental orders.
10. In the Rental calendar field, enter or select a value.
Note: You can define a rental calendar. If you do so, it overrules the rental calendar of the customer on rental quotations and rental orders.
11. In the Rate code field, enter or select a value.
Note: You can define a rate code. If you do so, it overrules the rate code of the customer on rental quotations and rental orders.
12. Click Save.
13. Close the page.
14. Go to Default dashboard.

In rental agreements, to a rental type, you can assign:

Transport costs
Insurance rates
To use a rental type, add it to the rental type sorting list on the rental parameters page.
Procedure
1. Go to Rental order management > Setup > Rental parameters.
2. Click the Rental agreements tab.
3. Expand the Rental type sorting section.
4. In the Type field, select Rental type.
Note: You can choose between Rental type and Group. Depending on the choice, you will be either adding an individual rental type or a rental type group.
5. Click Add.
6. In the Rental type relation field, enter or select the desired rental type or group.
Note: You can repeat this step multiple times if you want to add more then just one rental type or group.
7. Click Save.
8. Go to Default dashboard.
