Set up cost pools

Set up the cost pools that are used in the indirect cost plans. Make sure to create at least one cost pool of type Indirect and one cost pool of type Direct.
Note: On indirect cost plans, account structures are related to the cost pools. Therefore, you are recommended to consider your cost pool set up when you design the account structures. Make sure, the used account structures are active. The account structures used for cost pools do not interfere with standard D365 FO General ledger functionality. Do not assign these account structures to the Ledger page.

Start Start Set up indirect cost pools Set up indirect cost pools Set up the cost pools that are used in the indirect cost plans. Procedure 1. Go to Budgeting > Setup > Government contracting > Cost pools. 2. Click New. 3. In the Cost pool ID field, type a value. 4. In the Description field, type a value. 5. Make sure the Cost pool type is 'Indirect'. 6. In the Category field, enter or select a value. 7. In the Offset account for Indirect cost adjustment field, enter or select a value. 8. In the Unallowable categories section, in the right list, select the desired project categories. 9. Click 10. In the Allowable dimensions combination field, enter or select a value. 11. Click Save. In the Cost pool ID field, type a value. 4. In the Description field, type a value. 5. In the Worker field, you can enter or select a value. 6. In the Cost pool type field, select 'Direct'. 7. Expand the Unallowable categories section. 8. In the list, find and select the desired records. 9. Click End End
