Use the what-if analysis to evaluate alternative scenarios for an engineering change order before you commit to it. The agent recalculates the impact with your modified parameters and shows a before-and-after comparison, so you can weigh the trade-offs of each option. Use this task to test a delayed effectivity date, to exclude specific customers, or to focus on new orders only.
Prerequisites
You have run an impact analysis for the engineering change order in the current conversation.
The ECM+ Impact Agent is accessible to you in Copilot chat.
Steps
In the same Copilot chat conversation, ask a what-if question for the engineering change order. Choose a scenario, for example:
Delay the effectivity date: "What if I delay ECO-12345 by 30 days?"
Exclude a customer: "What if I exclude Customer X?"
Focus on new orders: "What if I apply the change to new orders only?"
Review the recalculated impact that the agent returns with the modified parameter.
Compare the before-and-after results, including the change in severity, the orders that dropped out of scope, and the change in total value.
Read the agent explanation of which orders and customers are no longer affected and why.
Use the trade-off analysis to decide whether to apply the scenario before you approve the ECO.
Results
You receive a before-and-after comparison that shows the change in severity, the orders removed from scope, and the change in value.
The agent explains which orders and customers are no longer affected and provides a trade-off analysis of the benefits and risks.
Note
You can combine what-if analysis with the drill-down and comparison capabilities in the same conversation to fully evaluate a change before approval.
