What’s new

New or changed features in Release 10.0.48.1 (August 2026) - ECM+.

This release introduces ECM+, a new D365-native extension to standard D365 F&SCM Engineering Change Management that adds an ECM+ Impact Workspace for assessing and resolving the downstream impact of a released Engineering Change Order (ECO) from one place, together with the ECM+ Impact Agent for conversational impact analysis. This release also adds a new option to transfer failed lines to a separate PLM staging journal during posting, so a single error no longer aborts an entire journal.

Impact Workspace

ECM+ adds a new ECM+ Impact Workspace that lets a supply chain planner, production supervisor, procurement manager, or engineering change analyst assess the downstream impact of a released ECO from a single location. When an ECO is released, standard ECM updates the product master, BOM, and route, but open transactional documents continue to reference the old item or version. The standard Business impact > Search action lists what is affected but stops short of helping the planner resolve it. The workspace closes that gap by consolidating the impact and the corrective actions into one familiar D365 F&SCM workspace.

Key capabilities:

  • Open the workspace directly from the standard Engineering change order page using the new Open impact workspace button in the Business impact action pane group, alongside the existing Search and View previous search actions. The button is available when the ECO has at least one line with an affected product.

  • The workspace follows the standard D365 pattern wi

  • th an action pane, an ECO summary strip (ECO number, description, status, effective date, engineering and logistical companies, total impacted and resolved counts), a left panel listing every ECO line with its calculation state, a right detail panel, and a status bar with the severity summary.

  • Run Calculate all to calculate the impact for the ECO lines in batch with progress feedback. Each calculation is a point-in-time snapshot with a timestamp.

  • The line info card shows the affected item, product name, change type, from-version, to-version, BOM version change, route version change, effective date, engineering company, and releasing site.

  • Version-aware inventory and supply KPI tiles present On-hand, Reserved, Net available, Incoming supply, Outgoing demand, and Coverage gap, with color coding and a from-version versus to-version side-by-side compare mode, plus a site/warehouse breakdown.

  • For BOM changes, a BOM cost impact tile shows the per-unit cost on the old and new BOM versions, the delta per unit, and the open demand exposed to the change.

  • Read-only impact groups list the affected transactions grouped by document type (Sales orders, Kanban jobs, Production orders, Planned orders, Purchase orders, Purchase quotations, Parent BOMs, and On-hand inventory), each with a per-row severity indicator, an action status column, and drill-through to the native D365 page and back with context preserved.

Guided corrective actions for sales orders in ECM+

Beyond viewing the impact, ECM+ lets you resolve it. In this first release, guided corrective actions are available on the sales order rows in the workspace. Each action follows the standard D365 dialog pattern with a context summary, configurable parameters, a preview, and confirm or cancel. When an action is applied, the action status badge on the row updates immediately and the resolved count increments.

Key capabilities:

  • Split line: split a sales order line to fulfil part of the quantity from existing (old version) stock and the remainder from the new version. The split is validated against the line's reservation status. Fully reserved lines cannot be split, and for partially reserved lines the split is limited to the unreserved quantity.

  • Hold line: place a sales order line on delivery hold with a reason code and optional notes.

  • Replace item: replace the item or version on a sales order line, with optional price recalculation from trade agreements and an optional customer change notification.

  • Reservation: open the standard D365 Reservation page in the context of the selected sales order line to review or adjust reservations before applying a corrective action.

  • Each impacted row shows the last action taken on it through an action status badge.

  • All corrective actions respect existing D365 security roles.

ECM+ Impact Agent

The ECM+ Impact Agent brings conversational impact analysis to engineering change. Built on Microsoft Copilot Studio and embedded alongside the ERP, the agent lets users ask what a change affects in natural language and receive a plain-language answer, reusing the existing D365 business impact logic. The agent is advisory and read-only. It summarizes facts computed in F&SCM and never writes to or changes your data.

Key capabilities:

  • Ask "What's the impact of ECO-12345?" in natural language and get a plain-language summary of the affected documents (sales orders, purchase orders, production orders, inventory, inventory journals, purchase requisitions, and quotations), including quantities and companies.

  • Analyze impact for both Engineering Change Orders and PLM staging journal lines, with multi-line changes presented for selection before analysis.

  • Configure a business-specific impact rules engine in F&SCM, including severity thresholds (Critical, High, Medium, Low) and business rules such as VIP customer, single-source supplier, or urgent delivery, so severity is calculated consistently for every analysis.

  • Drill down progressively on a specific impacted sales order to see header and line detail, with context preserved from one question to the next.

  • Run product-based impact analysis to assess the downstream impact for a selected product.

  • Business impact results are legal-entity aware, so the agent reports impact per company.
