ECM+

Prev Next

ECM+ extends the standard Engineering Change Management (ECM) capabilities in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management. It helps you assess and resolve the downstream impact of engineering changes before they disrupt open transactions.

When you release an engineering change order (ECO), standard ECM updates the product master, BOM, and route, but it doesn't update existing open transactions that still use the previous item, BOM, or route version, which can cause material shortages, production delays, or missed deliveries.

ECM+ addresses this with:

  • Impact workspace - identify affected records and perform supported corrective actions from one place.

  • ECM+ Impact Agent - a conversational advisor (Copilot Studio) that summarizes what a change affects, how severe it is, and what to do next.

Key benefits of ECM+

  • Faster ECO resolution: Review affected records and perform supported corrective actions without opening multiple pages.

  • Better planning decisions: Compare inventory and supply KPIs for the From version and To version. These KPIs include on-hand inventory, reserved inventory, net available inventory, incoming supply, outgoing demand, and coverage gap.

  • Reduced risk of disruption: Correct affected transactions before they cause material shortages, production delays, or missed deliveries.

  • A consistent resolution process: Follow the same guided process across teams instead of relying on different manual procedures.

  • Traceable corrective actions: Use the ECO change log to review the corrective actions performed during the impact resolution process.
