Use the ECM+ Impact Agent to assess the business impact of a PLM staging journal before you post it. The analysis works like the engineering change order analysis, but it evaluates the products on the staging journal lines and provides a pre-posting assessment. Use this analysis to see which items become CRITICAL or HIGH once the journal is posted to an ECO, so that you can prioritize which journal lines to review first.
Prerequisites
The ECM+ Impact Agent is deployed and accessible to you in Copilot chat.
The PLM staging journal exists in the system with at least one product line.
You have security access to the staging journal and its related impact data.
The Business Impact logic is available and functional in the Engineering change management module.
Steps
Open the ECM+ Impact Agent in Copilot chat.
Enter an impact question that identifies the PLM staging journal, for example "What's the impact of PLM Journal PJ-789?".
Review the agent response:
If the journal has a single product line, the agent runs the analysis automatically.
If the journal has several product lines, the agent lists the products and asks you to choose. Respond with the line number, the product ID, or all.
Review the pre-posting impact assessment that the agent returns for the selected journal line or lines.
Use the highlighted severity levels to prioritize which journal lines to review before you create the ECOs.
Results
You receive a pre-posting impact assessment for the products on the staging journal.
The agent highlights which items become CRITICAL or HIGH when the journal is posted, which helps you prioritize the journal line review.
Note
Because this analysis runs before posting, it lets you correct or reprioritize the journal lines before they become engineering change orders.
