On the Picking list journal, on the Picking line, the Proposal quantity field shows the original quantity that is the result of production order estimation.

The Consumption quantity field shows the total picked quantity. This includes the original estimated quantity plus the overpicked quantity.

Set overpicking parameter for production orders

Warehouse

On the Production control parameters, you can set a parameter that is related to overpicking for production orders: Reserve proposed quantity only.

When overpicking is allowed, you can overpick within the boundaries of the set overdelivery treshold for the released product.

If you set the 'Reserve proposed quantity only' parameter to:

  • No, you can do an overpicking: you pick more than the proposed quantity. On finishing the picking, the full picked quantity is physically reserved. The overpicked quantity stays physically reserved till the production order is ended. At this moment the physical reservation is undone and the quantity becomes available for use in other production orders.
Example: The proposed quantity is 1800, the picked quantity is 2100, so, the overpicked quantity is 300. When picking is finished, a quantity of 2100 is physically reserved. When the production order is ended, for the overpicked quanity of 300, the physical reservation is undone. Note: Some of the overpicked quantity can be consumed by the production order as well. In this case for less than a quantity of 300, the physical reservation is undone.
  • Yes, you can do an overpicking; you pick more than the proposed quantity. On finishing the picking, the full quantity is picked, but only the proposed quantity is physically reserved. So, the overpicked quantity is not physically reserved and available for use in other production orders.
Example: The proposed quantity is 1800, the picked quantity is 2100, so, the overpicked quantity is 300. When picking is finished, a quantity of 1800 is physically reserved. The overpicked quantity of 300 is available for use in other production orders.
