# Transfer order approval

Pharmaceutical companies need to ensure the shipment of specific products across different sites or warehouses within the company is approved by designated users.

Life Sciences Supply Chain Management provides the following approval functions for transfer orders:

- [Transfer order approval workflow](/life-sciences/docs/transfer-order-approval-workflow), if multiple approval steps are required before the material can be transferred.
- [Shipment approval](/life-sciences/docs/shipment-approval-for-transfer-orders), if a single approval is required to approve the shipment of a specific batch or sub-batch.

These functionalities can be used independently or simultaneously, thus increasing the control over material shipment.
