# Tests

Tests can be set up in **Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Quality control > Tests**. When a new test is created, the following information can be entered:

- **Test ID**
- **Test Description**
- **Test Type:** in addition to tests of type **Fraction**, **Integer**, and **Option**, Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance provides an additional [**Criterion**](/life-sciences/docs/test-criteria) test type for tests with acceptance criteria based on mathematical functions.
- **Test instrument** (optional)
- **Unit** (mandatory for tests of type **Fraction**, **Integer**, and **Criterion**)
- [**Analysis type**](/life-sciences/docs/analysis-types) (mandatory)
- [**Method name**](/life-sciences/docs/test-methods) (optional)

You can define translations for the test **Description**.
