The Sub batch sampling parameter in the Item sampling form (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Quality control > Item sampling) allows users to set the rule for the calculation of the number of sub-batches to be sampled.
If the Sub batch sampling parameter is enabled, users can click the Sub batch sampling button. The following options are available in the Sub batch sampling form:
Fixed value – when selecting this option, the Fixed value field is used to enter a fixed number of sub-batches to be sampled.
Percent – when selecting this option, the Percent field is used to enter the percentage value of the total number of sub-batches to be sampled, and the Fixed value is used to enter a fixed number of sub-batches to be added to the calculated number of sub-batches to be sampled.
Square root – when selecting this option, the square root of the total number of sub-batches will be sampled, and the Fixed value is used to enter a fixed number of sub-batches to be added to the calculated number of sub-batches to be sampled.
Note
Based on the value obtained from the calculation, it is possible to round-off To nearest, Up, and Down.
Example
According to the item sampling “IS001” configuration, the system considers the rules defined in the Sub batch sampling form as follows:
From 0 to 6 sub-batches, the system shall sample half of the sub-batches (rounded up):
Value specification: Percent
Percent “50”
Fixed value “0”
Round-off: Up
From 7 to 15 sub-batches, the system shall sample 3 sub-batches:
Value specification: Fixed value
Fixed value “4”
From 16 sub-batches on, the system shall sample the square root of the total sub-batches received plus 1:
Value specification: Square root
Fixed value “1”
Round-off: To nearest
Based on the configuration above:
If 5 sub-batches are received, 3 sub-batches will be sampled.
If 12 sub-batches are received, 4 sub-batches will be sampled.
If 27 sub-batches are received, 6 sub-batches will be sampled.
The total number of sub-batches received/produced and the number of sub-batches to be sampled out of it is displayed in the Quality orders form (in the Sub batches total and Sub batches to sample fields, respectively).
