# Salt code

Most drugs contain certain types of salt as an active ingredient in their formulation, which helps in treating different diseases via oral or intravenous administration. To ensure full traceability and compliance, pharmaceutical companies may need to record the type of salt used for manufacturing a specific drug product.

Salt codes can be defined in the **Salt codes** form (**Product information management** > **Setup** > **Compounds** > **Salt codes**).

Users can assign a salt code to an item in the **Released product details** form (**Product information management** > **Products** > **Released products** > **Released product details** > **General** FastTab).
