# Inventory management

Many inventory management processes are critical from a GMP perspective because they affect the quality of products. Examples include:

- The capability to track batches, sub-batches, and samples and ensure a full chain of custody.
- The capability to maintain shelf-life dates for material stored in inventory.
- The ability to segregate batches and block the use of unavailable batches for production, sales, and transfers.
