Life Sciences Supply Chain Management offers comprehensive capabilities for managing the formula/BOM approval process through an integrated workflow system. Workflow functionality can be activated by setting the Formula/BOM approval workflow parameter to Yes within the Bills of materials tab of the Inventory and warehouse management parameters form (Inventory management > Setup > Inventory and warehouse management parameters).
Once enabled, workflows are configured in the Inventory management workflows form (Inventory management > Setup > Inventory management workflows), supporting sophisticated approval processes including multiple steps and multiple assignees. Completion of the workflow is required to finalize formula/BOM approval.
Additionally, the formula/BOM approval workflow is available for engineering change orders and can be accessed in the Product details FastTab, under the Formula tab of the Engineering change orders form (Engineering change management > Common > Engineering change management > Engineering change orders).
Note
To enhance flexibility and enable differentiation between engineering and non-engineering product approval processes, the Formula/BOM approval workflow allows the inclusion of a Conditional decision based on the Engineering controlled parameter (Field EngChgIsEngineeringControlled).
