The calculation formula can be defined for the [](/life-sciences/docs/calculated-results)[test method](/life-sciences/docs/test-methods), and it is inher-ited in the test group (where it can be edited if needed). For example, a mathematical formula can be used when a result obtained from the laboratory must be converted (e.g., to a different unit of measure). The automatic calculation reduces the risk linked to a manual entry and manual calculation. #### Example A quality order is available with the following tests: - Test “Potency”. - Test “Potency%” with **Calculation formula** set as “@Potency@/10*4”. The user enters the result for the test “Potency”. Then, for the test “Potency%”, the user can click the **Calculate test result** button, and the result is automatically calculated as follows: - “Potency” result: “190” (manually entered) - “Potency%” result: “76” (calculated). If multiple results are entered for the “Potency” test, the system uses the value in the Average field to calculate the “Potency%” result. The **Average** field is defined according to the test [**Evaluation method**](/life-sciences/docs/evaluation-method). ## Related - [Evaluation method](/evaluation-method.md) - [Test methods](/test-methods.md)
