When processing an order (for example, sales, production, or transfer order), the reservation step physically blocks the material to be used. Standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management lets users manually select the inventory dimensions to be displayed upon reservation by enabling the desired parameters in the Detailed availability by dimension section of the Reservation form.
Life Sciences Supply Chain Management makes the reservation step more efficient by adding the Display all dimensions parameter in the Inventory and warehouse management parameters form (Inventory management > Setup > Inventory and warehouse management parameters). If this parameter is enabled, the system automatically displays all the relevant inventory dimensions during the reservation processes under the Detailed availability by dimensions section in the Reservation form.
The available dimensions displayed in the Reservation form depend on the item’s Tracking dimension and the Reservation hierarchy. For example, an item with a Tracking dimension set to Sub batch and the Reservation hierarchy set to Sub batch below location will have the Site, Warehouse, Inventory status, and Batch number dimensions automatically enabled.
