Inventory journals (for example, transfer, profit/loss, movement, counting) can be used for different purposes, including routine activities such as inventory adjustment or GMP-critical activities such as changing item codes. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management allows the configuration of approval workflows to manage multiple approval steps for inventory journals.
For actions that do not require multiple approvers to play a role, Life Sciences Supply Chain Management allows identifying inventory journals that require approval by setting the Approval status field in the Inventory journal names form (Inventory management > Setup > Journal names > Inventory) as follows:
Not required if the journal can be posted without approval.
Pending if the journal requires approval before being posted.
When users create a new inventory journal, its Approval status is defaulted based on the selected journal Name. When it is set to Pending, an authorized user must update its value to Approved before the journal can be posted.
