You can use the web services functionality to set up and manage the web service process for:
Outbound web services: The outbound web service process is used to request data from an external application and to process the response in D365 F&SCM, via an external outbound web service.
Inbound web services: The inbound web service process is used to receive a request from and send a response to an external application, via an inbound web service.
The web service process supports these web service access types:
Basic: You can use this option if the web service access type is SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol).
REST: Use this option is the web service access type is REST (Representational State Transfer).
You can set up and manage the web service process with web service actions. To manage the different web service states, for each web service action, you can define these messages:
Request message
Response message
Error message
