To do so, set up a configurable lookup of type '**Dynamic query**'. ### Steps 1. Go to **Data quality studio > Setup > Configurable lookup**. 2. Click **New**. 3. In the **Configurable lookup ID** field, type a value. 4. In the **Description** field, type a value. 5. In the **Configurable lookup type** field, select '**Dynamic query**'. 6. Click **Save**. 7. In the **Dynamic query** field, enter or select a value. 8. Sub-task: Define the field settings for the configurable lookup. 1. Expand the **Dynamic query configurable lookup values** section. 2. Define the dynamic query fields to be shown on the configurable lookup. You can define several fields. Only the value from one field can be input for the field using the configurable lookup. All other fields are informational. Click **New**. > [!NOTE] > Note > > For example, you use a configurable lookup of type **Dynamic query** to select a city. > > To help select the correct city, you can show the related country and state in the configurable lookup. > > Add these fields to the configurable lookup: country, state, and city. > > Specify city as the value field. 3. In the **Field name** field, enter or select a value. 4. Specify which field defines the value selected from the configurable lookup. Only the value from this field is input for the field using the configurable lookup. Select the **Value field** check box. > [!NOTE] > Note > > - The field can be another field than the field to which you apply a validation rule that uses the configurable lookup. > - Make sure the data type of the field is compatible with the data type of the field to which you apply a validation rule that uses the configurable lookup. 9. Sub-task: Add query ranges. 1. You can use a range to filter the values that a dynamic query gets. On a configurable lookup, the range filters the values that you can select when you use the configurable lookup. For a configurable lookup of type **Dynamic query**, you can define which of the dynamic query fields can be used as range. You can use these fields as ranges on a validation rule of type **Configurable lookup**. Expand the **Add query ranges** section. 2. Click **New**. 3. In the **Range** field, enter or select a value. > [!NOTE] > Note > > You set the range values on the validation rule. 10. Close the page. > [!NOTE] > Notes > > The Data Quality Studio 10.0.42.13 release changes the **Dynamic query configurable lookup values** section. Redesign the section setup for configurable lookups of type **Dynamic query** created before this release. If you do not redesign the section setup, these configurable lookups stop working. ## Related - [Set up configurable lookup](/set-up-configurable-lookup.md)
