What’s new

New or changed features in Release 10.0.48.29 (June 2026) of Data Entry Workflow.

1. Change request assignment enhancement

This release adds greater control over how workflow steps are reassigned when a change request is raised during the approval process.

  • A new Change Request Assignment field is available on the approval step configuration in the data entry workflow template.

  • All Assignees reassigns the change request step to all users configured for that workflow step.

  • Original Submitter reassigns the change request step only to the user who originally submitted or completed the workflow step.

  • Email notifications now align with the selected assignment option, so notifications are sent either to all configured assignees or only to the original submitter.

2. Route change request to latest editable step

This release improves change request routing for fields that are editable across multiple workflow steps.

  • A new Route Change Request to Latest Editable Step toggle is available on the approval step in the data entry workflow template.

  • When enabled, change requests raised during approval are routed to the latest workflow step where the requested field is editable.

  • When disabled, the workflow continues to follow the existing behavior and routes back to the first editable step.

  • This reduces unnecessary repetition by reopening only the most relevant workflow step for modification.

3. Restrict creation of data entry workflow records from existing records

This release introduces a new parameter that allows administrators to control whether users can create new workflow records by copying data from existing records.

  • A new Block Create from Existing Record parameter is available on the General tab of the Data Entry Workflow parameters page.

  • When disabled, users can continue to create records from either a blank form or an existing record.

  • When enabled, users can only create new records using the selected data entry workflow template.

  • The option to choose between Blank and Existing Record is removed from the record creation process when the parameter is enabled.

4. Enhanced version control support for template synchronization

This release enhances Data Entry Workflow version control to improve template synchronization across environments.

  • Version control now uses a system-generated GUID instead of the template ID when linking templates to version control records.

  • The Workflow Template Version Management form now includes Original Template and Current Template fields to improve visibility into template mappings.

  • Templates can be imported using the identifier stored in version control, improving deployment reliability and preserving template relationships across environments.

  • A new Rename action on the Data Entry Workflow template form lets administrators change a template ID while automatically updating related documents and records.

Compatibility

Built for D365 F&SCM 10.0.48 and compatible with 10.0.45+. This release is functionally validated against D365 F&SCM, version 10.0.48.
