Use the EDI transfer order staging journal to monitor the EDI transfer order information that you receive from a 3PL warehouse or an external warehouse Management system (WMS). If you use EDI transfer order staging, custom messages are required.
You can, for example, use staging in your EDI process for transfer orders. You can use custom message to import the received information into the EDI transfer order journal. The message can, for example, be 'XML transfer order shipment confirmation to EDI transfer order' (940)
The EDI transfer orders are validated according to the applicable journal validation setup. If the applicable validation rules are:
Met, the EDI transfer order is automatically approved. An approved EDI transfer order is processed by the applicable custom message. For example: 'EDI transfer order to Transfer order'.
Not met, an error or warning is given. Before the EDI transfer order can be processed further, review the errors and warnings, and take appropriate actions.
