# Set up reason codes

If you do data quality assessments, for an error or warning, you can set the status to '**Accept deviation**'. In this case, it is important to explain why you accept the deviation. You can do so by selecting a reason code.

This topic explains how to set up the reason codes.

### Steps

1. Click **Data quality management**.
2. Click **Reason codes**.
3. Click **New**.
4. Define a descriptive name for the reason code.

In the **Reason code** field, type a value.
5. Explain the purpose of the reason code.

In the **Description** field, type a value.
6. Close the page.
