# Export files for comparison

To compare data, first export your data from the applicable D365 F&SCM environment to XML files. You can use XML files to generate a content package.

To generate an XML file for a content package, run the applicable message. As a result, an XML file with the content, as defined by the message, is generated and placed in a specified folder on your Azure Storage account. You can run several messages to export different sets of data to XML files. You can generate a content package based on several XML files. In this case, make sure all desired XML files for the content package are placed in the same Azure Storage account folder.
