You can use a dynamic query to define the possible options of a configurable lookup. To do so, set up a configurable lookup of type 'Dynamic query'.

Standard procedure

1. Go to Data quality studio > Setup > Configurable lookups.
2. Click New.
3. In the Configurable lookup ID field, type a value.
4. In the Description field, type a value.
5. In the Configurable lookup type field, select 'Dynamic query'.
6. Click Save.
7. Define the query and related settings for the configurable lookup.
Expand the Dynamic query configurable lookup values section.
8. In the Dynamic query field, enter or select a value.
9. Define the field in the dynamic query which value is used to define the configurable lookup.
In the Dynamic query lookup value field field, enter or select a value.

Note:
- Define a field that exists in the dynamic query.
- The field can be another field than the field to which you apply a validation rule that uses the configurable lookup.
- Make sure, the data type of the field is compatible with the data type of the field to which you apply a validation rule that uses the configurable lookup.

10. In the Dynamic query lookup value description field field, enter or select a value.
11. Sub-task: Add query ranges.
11.1 You can use a range to filter the values that a dynamic query gets. On a configurable lookup, the range filters the values that you can select when you use the configurable lookup.
For a configurable lookup of type Dynamic query, you can define which of the dynamic query fields can be used as range. You can use these fields as ranges on a validation rule of type Configurable lookup.
Expand the Add query ranges section.
  11.2 Click New.
11.3 In the Range field, enter or select a value.

Note: You set the range values on the validation rule.

12. Close the page.
