On a data model, you can create a template based on one or several of the added data sets and data entities. You can use this template to easily add these data sets and data entities to another data model.
If you, on a data model, save one or several data sets and data entities as a template, the template is created with the category 'Data' and the type 'XML'. In the template, references to the selected data sets and data entities are stored in plain XML. The XML also contains the value of the 'Enabled' field.
On saving data set and data entity configurations to a template, you can:
1. | Go to Data modeling studio > Data modeling studio > Data models. |
2. | In the list, click the link of the desired data model. |
3. | Expand the Dataset section. |
4. | You can save one or several data sets and data entities as a template. For example, you can save all data sets and data entities with the same export group as a template. |
  | In the list, find and select the desired data sets and data entities. |
5. | Click Save as template. |
6. | To create a new template, in the Template field, enter the desired template name. |
  | In the Template field, type a value. |
  |
Note: If you overwrite an existing template, the name of the selected template is entered automatically in the Template field. |
7. | To overwrite an existing template, select Yes the Overwrite template field, and, in the list, select the desired template. |
  | Select Yes in the Overwrite template field. |
8. | In the list, find and select the desired template. |
  |
Note: The name of the selected template is entered automatically in the Template field. |
9. | Click OK. |
On the Data sets page, you cannot apply a template that is saved from the Data models page. Such a template contains references to data sets and data entities instead of data set configurations.
