You can save one or several data set configurations as a template. You can use this template to exchange the data set configuration with another D365 FO environment or to easily add it to a data model.
If you save data set configurations as template, a template is created with the category 'Data' and the type 'XML'. In the template, the data set configuration is stored in plain XML. The XML contains both the data set general settings and the data set fields.
On saving data set configurations to a template, you can:
1. | Go to Data modeling studio > Data modeling studio > Data sets. |
2. | You can save one or several data sets as template. |
  | In the list, find and select the desired data sets. |
3. | On the Action Pane, click Templates. |
4. | Click Save as template. |
5. | To create a template, in the Template field, enter the desired template name. |
  | In the Template field, type the template name. |

Note: If you overwrite an existing template, the name of the selected template is entered automatically in the Template field. |
6. | To overwrite an existing template, select Yes the Overwrite template field, and, in the list, select the desired template. |
  | Select Yes in the Overwrite template field. |
7. | In the list, find and select the desired template. |

8. | Click OK. |
