# Working with containers

Containers are the basis for Transport and Deliveries. Define as many container types as you need. You can link a container type to an item to track the inventory of containers. Create and fill containers during picking or after picking. From the container, create transport orders or link to existing ones. Track the status of a container from **Open** to **Closed** to **Loaded**.
