Time input lines collect and complete time transactions and, when complete, register the lines in time sheets. Time transactions are primarily created by starting and stopping resource tasks. They can also be imported from external time capture systems. This import feature is not part of Resource Management. STAEDEAN recommends using Connectivity Studio as a connector.
Process
When a resource task is started, a time input line is created with the start date and time and the status Open.
When a resource task is stopped, the time input line is updated with the stop date and time and the status is set to Completed.
Completed time input lines can be processed to the status Registered with the Register action.
Note
Resources must stop their task at the end of a workday and start the task again on the next workday to create correct time entries. See the notes on the Resource Tasks page for the correct procedures.
Time input lines must be linked to a resource for which Use Time Sheet is true. Resource tasks can only be started by individual resources.
The register process can be automated by adding the IEMRM Process Time Input Line report to a Project Queue.
Time sheet lines created by the process time input line report can be automatically submitted for approval and posting with the Auto Submit Time Sheet setting in Resources Setup. In this way, you can automate the time registration process all the way to the approval and posting step.
