To guide project managers and project team members through this complexity, Industrial Equipment Manufacturing uses states for projects and project tasks: optionally driven by lifecycles and supported by workflows. ![Life-cycles and Workflows](https://cdn.document360.io/da662430-6a41-47b1-8c7e-7e4ac37a9756/Images/Documentation/JMSLifecycleWorkflow2.png) First, there is the project status as offered by Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, following the stages a project goes through: 1. Initiating or planning. 2. Quoting. 3. Executing, monitoring, and controlling. 4. Completing and closing. Project Control Suite, in combination with [Item Status Management](/business-central/docs/bc-item-status-management), can be extended with **Project Status Management** to manage the project's business process through a lifecycle. In Marketing and Sales integration, more detail is available about the sales processes leading to a project. Industrial Equipment Manufacturing status management for projects works bottom-up: - When all planning lines are completed, the project task can be completed. When the remaining quantity on a planning line is 0, the line status is set to **Completed**. This status can also be set manually with the **Change Status** action or when a resource marks the task as complete. - When all project tasks are completed, the project can be completed. A batch report cycles through all planning lines for a project task. When all planning lines have status **Completed**, the project task is set to **Completed**. Document approval workflows can be created to further support these processes. An example has been added to Project Control Suite for approving a project change order. This approval workflow can be installed from a workflow template. A project lifecycle is available as a separate app based on the Lifecycle Base app. ## Related - [Introduction to Industrial Equipment manufacturing](/bc-introduction-to-industrial-equipment-manufacturing.md) - [Value chain and the push/pull point](/bc-value-chain-and-the-push-pull-point.md) - [Create project visibility](/bc-create-project-visibility.md) - [Work breakdown structures](/bc-work-breakdown-structures.md) - [Marketing and sales integration](/bc-marketing-and-sales-integration.md) - [Comprehensive planning](/bc-comprehensive-planning.md) - [Flexible manufacturing scenarios](/bc-flexible-manufacturing-scenarios.md) - [Warehouse integration for projects](/bc-warehouse-integration-for-projects.md) - [Resource integration in manufacturing (basic MES)](/bc-resource-integration-in-manufacturing-basic-mes.md) - [Service integration (Servitization)](/bc-service-integration-servitization.md) - [Item Status Management](/bc-item-status-management.md)
