# Simulate mail using Papercut

Use this task to test the outcome of a pipeline configured with an **SMTP** endpoint activity.

Papercut is a utility to test activities that use the SMTP protocol. It is simple to use and saves time compared to configuring a traditional SMTP server.

To use the Papercut tool, you must:

- Download and install [Papercut](https://www.papercut-smtp.com/).
- Configure a pipeline with an **EMAILWRITER** endpoint activity.

## Steps

1. Extract Papercut. Extract the downloaded archive to a folder location of your choice. Double-click the Papercut executable in the extracted location.
2. Configure Papercut:
  - Select the **Options** button.
  - Set the **IP address** to **Anywhere Mobility Solutions**.
  - Specify the **Port** as 25 (default).
3. Configure a pipeline. Edit the **EMAILWRITER** endpoint activity, add the **Account ID**, set **SMTP Server** to `localhost`, and set **SMTP Server Port** to `25`.

> The Papercut executable must be running while processing the pipeline to intercept the mail message.

When you process the pipeline, an entry with the current date and time appears in the left pane of the Papercut utility. Double-click the entry to view the content of the mail.
