# Set up user-defined fields

To capture data from additional fields and save them in the measurement, use **User Defined Fields**.

To select user defined fields:

- Make sure the status of the measurement template is either **New** or **Under Development**.
- On the Measurement Template, open the **User Defined Fields** tab.
- Use the assist edit beside each of the 10 user defined fields to open the field list of the table specified in the measurement template header.
- Select the field and select **OK**.
