# Set up the XML to Text Translator activity

Use the XML to Text Translator activity to send data in a fixed-length format to external parties.

## Steps

1. Create a connection and insert the element **XMLTOTEXTTRANSLATOR**.
2. On the elements line, select **Edit**.
3. On the **XML to Text Translator Setup** page, fill in the following fields:
4. Select **Check Configuration** to see if there are Anywhere Mobility Solutions configuration errors.
5. Select **OK**.

## Settings

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Document Type | Select the document type: either **Internal** or **External**. |
| Document No. | Based on the document type, select the document. |
| Include Headers | Select this field to include header details in the text output. |
| Node Name | Filled in automatically based on the selected document. |
| Width | Specify how many characters the field includes. |
| Alignment | Specify the alignment: **Left** or **Right**. |
| Filler Character | Specify which character fills the empty places in your text file. |
| Encoding | The activity supports the encoding types supported by standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central: **Unicode**, **UTF8**, and **ASCII**. |
| Codepage | To write the file in a specific encoding type, set **Encoding** to **Others** and specify the codepage ID.
