# Set up the XML to HTML Translator activity
Use the XML to HTML Translator activity to convert a document to HTML format.
## Steps
1. In a configuration, add the element **XMLTOHTMLTRANSLATOR**.
2. On the line, select **Manage** > **Edit** to open the setup page.
3. On the **XMLTOHTMLTRANSLATOR Setup** page, fill in the following fields:
| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Document Type | Select **Internal** or **External** document type. |
| Document No. | The document number that contains the format of the incoming message. |
| Use a Custom XSLT | Enabling this option enables the **Import XSLT** action, which lets you overwrite the generated XSLT from the HTML Editor. |
| Editor Type | Choose which version of the HTML Editor to use. The HTML Editor loads externally hosted scripts and components. The local HTML Editor uses only local resources. Use the local HTML Editor if the standard HTML Editor does not load. |
1. Define the HTML body in one of the following ways:
- Select **Import XSLT** on the **Actions** tab to import a custom XSLT directly.
- Select **Design** to open the HTML Editor and define the HTML body using the CK Editor.
- Select **Design** to open the HTML Editor and select **Source** to paste HTML source directly.
