To use this functionality, first set up several parameters in your warehouse locations. To use replenishment areas, start bin management on the location card. ## Start bin management ### Steps - Bin management 1. In the search box, enter **Locations**, and then choose the related link. 2. Select the location where you want to use replenishment areas. On the **Home** tab, in the **Manage** group, choose **Edit**. 3. On the **Warehouse** FastTab, select the **Bin Mandatory** field. 4. If you are using the location for put-aways and picks (either internal or directed), select the necessary fields. You do not need to fill in Anywhere Mobility Solutions other fields on the location card until later in the setup process. > [!NOTE] > Note > > You cannot set up the warehouse to use bins (which is part of replenishment areas) when the location has open item ledger entries. The next step is to set up the location for bins. If you are using the location for directed put-aways and picks, set up zones and other records in addition to bins. In addition to standard zones and bins, set up a replenishment zone with one inbound and one outbound bin for each replenishment area you want to create. > [!NOTE] > Note > > Do not assign bins in the Inbound Production Bin Code and Outbound Production Bin Code fields on the Bins FastTab of the location card. Once these additional records are defined, return to the location card and identify it as a replenishment location. ## Define a replenishment location ### Steps - Define a replenishment location 1. In the search box, enter **Locations**, and then choose the related link. 2. Select the location where you want to use replenishment areas. On the **Home** tab, in the **Manage** group, choose **Edit**. 3. On the **Bin Policies** FastTab, select the **Require Replenishment Area** field. 4. If you have set up zones in your warehouse, fill in the **Replenishment Zone Code** field with the zone that contains the bins you want to assign to replenishment areas. ## Set up a replenishment area in a location A replenishment area is a specific place in which production activities are carried out within a location. If several places in a location are used for production, set up a replenishment area for each one. Replenishment areas also make production reporting easier, as consumption is posted directly from a replenishment area's inbound bin. ### Steps - Set up a replenishment area in a location 1. In the search box, enter **Locations**, and then choose the related link. 2. Select the location where you want to use replenishment areas. On the **Home** tab, in the **Manage** group, choose **Edit**. 3. On the **Navigate** tab, in the **Location** group, choose **Replenishment Areas**. 4. On the **Replenishment Areas** page, fill in the **Code** and **Description** fields for each replenishment area you want to operate. 5. Assign an inbound and outbound bin to each replenishment area. > [!NOTE] > Note > > If you have set up zones in your warehouse, the bins assigned to a replenishment area must be within the location's defined replenishment zone. You can then set up the following: - Default replenishment areas for production items, see [Assign items to replenishment areas](/business-central/docs/bc-assign-items-to-replenishment-areas). - Fixed production bins for items consumed directly from a storage bin, see [Assign items to replenishment areas](/business-central/docs/bc-assign-items-to-replenishment-areas). - Replenishment areas for processing activities that must be performed on materials before they can be used in production, see [Pre-process activities](/business-central/docs/bc-pre-process-activities). ## Related - [Assign items to replenishment areas](/bc-assign-items-to-replenishment-areas.md) - [Assign items to fixed production bins](/bc-assign-items-to-fixed-production-bins.md) - [Pre-process activities](/bc-pre-process-activities.md) - [Configure warehouse management](/bc-configure-warehouse-management.md) - [Set a lot picking method](/bc-set-a-lot-picking-method.md)
