# Set up lot number custom formats

A custom lot number format consists of segments. When a lot number is generated from a custom format, its values and appearance are determined from the format's assigned segments.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Lot No. Custom Formats**, and then choose the related link.
2. On the **Home** tab, in the **New** group, choose **New**. The **Lot No. Custom Format** page appears.
3. On the **General** FastTab, enter a code and description.
4. On the **Segments** FastTab, enter the segments you want to include in the custom lot number format.
