# Set up equipment

Set up production equipment as a resource. Fill in certain fields for the program to recognize a resource as a piece of equipment.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Resources**, and then choose the related link.
2. On the **Home** tab, in the **New** group, choose **New** to create a new resource.
3. In the **No.** field, enter a number to identify the resource.
4. In the **Type** field, choose **Machine**.
5. In the **Machine Type** field, indicate whether the equipment is used in batch or package orders.
6. In the **Capacity UOM** field, enter the unit of measure code for the unit by which the equipment's capacity is measured.
7. In the **Equipment Capacity** field, enter the equipment capacity. Enter this value in terms of the capacity unit of measure.
8. Fill in the other fields on the resource card.
