# Set up a preventive maintenance order

You can set up one or more preventive maintenance orders for an asset. Set up these orders for maintenance activities that occur on a recurring basis. You can instruct the program to create work orders based on a preventive maintenance order's settings.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Preventive Maintenance Orders**, and then choose the related link.
2. Create a new preventive maintenance order.
3. In the **Asset No.** field, enter the asset for which you want to set up a preventive maintenance order.
4. Fill in the other fields on the **General** FastTab.
5. In the **Work Requested** area, enter instructions for the order. You can enter as much text as you want.
6. Enter expected maintenance costs on the other FastTabs.
