# Resource task posting

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, time sheet line posting varies depending on the type. In Resource Management, only the type **Resource Task** is available. The table below describes each time sheet line type and how Resource Management handles it:

| **[blank]** | Use to add a note or marker in the **Description** field of the time sheet line. Time values cannot be entered for this line type. | These lines are not posted. |
| **Assembly Order** | Used to register time for assembly orders. Created during posting of assembly order lines where the resource uses time sheets. Cannot be selected manually. | Select a resource task of the type **Assembly** in the time sheet, or the resource task is inserted automatically through a **Start/Stop** action. Posting creates a capacity ledger entry and value entry for the assembly order. Assembly orders cannot be completed when time sheet lines are pending. When the assembly order is reserved for a project, a project ledger entry is created from the value entry to move all detailed postings from assembly to the project. A resource ledger entry is also posted. |
| **Project** | Use to register time usage for a project. Specify the project number and project task number. You can register time for unscheduled lines. | Select a resource task of the type **Project** in the time sheet, or the resource task is inserted automatically through a **Start/Stop** action. Posting creates a project journal line that is automatically posted as a project ledger entry. A resource ledger entry is also posted. |
| **Service** | Use to register time usage for a service order or service credit memo. | Select a resource task of the type **Service** in the time sheet, or the resource task is inserted automatically through a **Start/Stop** action. Posting creates a system-generated service invoice line that cannot be deleted. When the service invoice line is posted, a resource ledger entry is also created. |
| **Resource** | Use to register time usage for a resource. Provide a description of the work and a work type code. | Select a resource task of the type **Resource** in the time sheet, or the resource task is inserted automatically through a **Start/Stop** action. Posting creates a resource ledger entry through the resource journal. |
| **Absence** | Use to register absence time during a work week. Specify the type of absence in the **Cause of Absence Code** field. | Select a resource task of the type **Absence** in the time sheet. Posting creates a resource ledger entry and creates or updates the registered absence entry. |
| **Production** | Not available in standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. | When the Manufacturing Integration app is installed, select a resource task of the type **Production** in the time sheet, or the resource task is inserted automatically through a **Start/Stop** action. Posting creates a capacity ledger entry and value entry for the production order. A resource ledger entry is also posted |
