Project features

Project features are user-definable fields for a project. Per company, 20 features can be defined in the Project Control Suite Setup by selecting them from the ProjectFeatures list. The setup also determines the sequence in which the ProjectFeatures are used.

Per project, select the value of a feature from a predefined list or enter free text. Set ProjectFeatures from the ProjectHeader, the ProjectBudget line, and the ProjectPlanning line. The ProjectFeature values are stored as a ProjectFeature Set ID and copied along in the various transactions.

Note

  • The ProjectInformation fact box shows the number of features and the number for which a value is selected, for example, 2/5 means that two of five features are specified.

  • The ProjectFeatures from the ProjectItem Planning line are also available from the purchase order line: Project Planning Line in the purchase order line menu.

Set project features in two steps.

Steps - Set up features

Define the features in the features list and specify the content for each feature.

  1. Choose the  Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon (Alt+Q) and type Features.

  2. Fill in the fields:

    Field

    Description

    Code

    Identifies the feature.

    Description

    Describes the feature.

    Type Code

    Predefined List: feature values are copied from another table to create a list you can select from in the project. Option List: feature values are typed in a list you can select from in the project. Free Text: type your own feature value in the project.

    Table No.

    For a predefined list, select the table number from which the feature values are copied.

    Table Name

    Populated when a table number is selected.

    Field No.

    For a predefined list, select the field number from the specified table from which the feature values are copied.

    Field Name

    Populated when a field number is selected.

Steps - Define features and sequence on Project Control Suite Setup

Set the features to use and their sequence in the Project Control Suite Setup, Features fast tab.

  1. Type Projects Setup in the search box.

  2. Select Projects Setup.

  3. Open the Project Features fast tab.

  4. In the Feature Code fields, select a feature to use in projects.
