This lets a company facilitate movements of larger item quantities. For example, a manufacturing company that produces individual cases of a finished good may stack several cases onto a pallet to expedite the movement of items from the production area to warehouse storage. By defining an inventory item as a "container" in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can assign other inventory items to the container item. Certain characteristics of the items stored on or in a container are captured when the container record is created. When you assign a container to a document such as a sales or transfer order, information about the items assigned to that container is automatically copied to the document lines. The following table describes a sequence of activities, with links to the topics that describe them. These activities are listed in the order in which they are generally performed. | To | See | | --- | --- | | Define the general rules, properties, and values for pallet/container tracking processes. | [Configure pallet/container tracking](/business-central/docs/bc-configure-pallet-container-tracking) | | Create, maintain, and assign container records to documents. | [Process containers](/business-central/docs/bc-food-process-containers) | ## Related - [Configure pallet/container tracking](/bc-configure-pallet-container-tracking.md) - [Process containers](/bc-food-process-containers.md) - [About containers](/bc-about-containers.md)
