# Manually create a preventative maintenance work order

You can use a preventive maintenance order to generate a work order. The information on the PM order is copied to the corresponding fields on the new work order.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Assets**, and then choose the related link.
2. Select the asset for which you want to create a work order.
3. On the **Preventive Maintenance** FastTab, select the preventive maintenance order you want to use to generate a work order, then choose **Create Order**.
