Use this in a scenario where there is no engineering system (PLM/CAD) or a file-based exchange is not possible, while the company still wants to manage revision-based changes to items and BOMs. ### Steps 1. From the **Engineering Change Management Portal** role center, select **EC Staging Manual Entry** to open the **ECO Manual List**. 2. Select **New** from the ribbon and complete the following fields: #### Header | Field | Explanation | | --- | --- | | Document No. | Assigned as per the number series specified in **Engineering Staging Nos.** in the Engineering Change setup. | | Request Type | Select **New** or **Update**. When **New**, the **Create Item Wizard** starts (see below). When **Update**, select the no. to update in the **No.** field: the existing field values are retrieved. | | Type | **Item**, **Production BOM**, **Routing**. | | Description | When **New**, provide a description. When **Update**, the description is retrieved. | | Description 2 | Optional description. | | Variant Code | Select from the Item Variant table. Not available for new items. | | Production BOM Version No. | Select from the Production BOM Version list when **Type** = **Production BOM**. | | Routing Version No. | Select from the Routing Version list when **Type** = **Routing**. | | Revision Code | Type a code to identify the revision. | | Revision Description | Provide a short description of the revision. | | Received Date | Select the date the revision was received. | | Effective Date | Select the date from which the revision is effective. | #### Subform The ECO subform changes as per the type selected in the header: - **Item**: **ECO Item Subform** shows the current details of an item when updating; complete item details for a new item. - **Production BOM**: **ECO Prod. BOM Subform** shows the current BOM when updating; specify the component lines for a new BOM. - **Routing**: **ECO Routing Subform** shows the current routing when updating; specify the operations for a new routing. Use the **Create Order** action in the ribbon to create the Engineering Change Order from the manual entry. ### Create Item Wizard The **Create Item Wizard** supports the creation of new items through an Engineering Change Order. From the wizard, three options to create an item are available: - **Copy from another item**: select the item no. to copy from and specify the new item no. Basic information is copied, including Anywhere Mobility Solutions attached documents. - **Copy from a Catalog Item**: select a catalog item to copy from. Basic information is copied from the item template specified on the catalog item. - **Copy from an Item Template**: select an item template. The new item is created with the settings from the item template. Once selected, complete the following fields for the ECO: - **Description** (mandatory) - **Description 2** - **Revision Code** (mandatory) - **Revision Description** - **Received Date** - **Effective Date** (mandatory) Select **Finish** to create the manual ECO, update Anywhere Mobility Solutions information as required, and use **Create Order** to create the Engineering Change Order. **Carryout Action** implements the new item. > [!NOTE] > Note > > The item's new number is assigned from a number series specified in the Item Templates with the Carryout Action. For the "Copy from another item" action, this is the template specified in the Engineering Change setup. When Item Status Management is installed, the new item is assigned the initial state of the Item Lifecycle. ### Batch process to set the initial Revision Code From the **Engineering Change Management role center** > run **Manage a batch process** (**Engineering Change Order - Batch Process Archive**) to set the initial revision code and description for selected items. In this process, you can also link a PDF document to the item describing the revision. The number of processed and stored revisions is shown in the fact box. ## Related - [Engineering Change Management ](/bc-engineering-change-management.md)
