# Fill in and post contract journals

You can post the labour an outside contractor performed for a work order in a contract journal. Entries posted in a contract journal have no effect on the general ledger.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Contract Journal**, and then choose the related link.
2. In the **Work Order No.** field on the first line, enter the work order for which you are entering contract labour.
3. Fill in the journal lines with the relevant information.
4. Repeat this procedure for each contract journal line you want to post.
5. After filling in the fields, post the journal. On the **Home** tab, in the **Process** group, choose **Post**.
