Create customer rebates/promotions

You can set up and track marketing plans such as rebates or commissions using the Marketing Plans granule in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Food Manufacturing & Distribution.

Steps

  1. In the search box, enter Customer Rebates/Promos, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Home tab, in the New group, choose New.

  3. Fill in the fields on the card. The fields are described below by tab.

General tab

Field

Description

No.

Identifies the customer rebate or promo uniquely. Numbers may be assigned automatically or manually.

Name

A description of the customer rebate or promo. Copied automatically to the Search Name field; change this manually if you want a different search name.

Plan Type

The type of plan: Promo/Rebate (default) or Reporting (points-based system).

Accrue

Determines where accruals are generated from: Invoices/CMs, Shipments/Receipts, or Paid Invoices/CMs.

Start Date

Starting date of the accrual calculations.

End Date

End date of the accrual calculations. Can be left empty.

Date Type

The date used to determine accruals: Posting Date or Order Date.

Source Selection Type

The field on the order/invoice used when generating accruals: Bill-to, Sell-to, or Sell-to/Ship-to.

Source Selection

The basis for creating accruals: All Customers, Specific Customer, Price Group, or Customer Group.

Item Selection

Which order/invoice lines are included in accrual calculations: All Items, Specific Item, Item Category, Manufacturer, Vendor No., or Item Group.

Minimum Value Type

The type used for the minimum value: Amount or Quantity.

Computation UOM

Default unit of measure for accrual calculations. Copied automatically to line-level Computation UOM fields where the unit is assigned to the item.

Customers tab

This tab determines the customers involved in transactions for this accrual plan. Use the Source Code field to enter the specific customer, price group, or customer group as determined by Source Selection on the General tab.

If Source Selection is set to Specific Customer, use the Source View button to add customers based on filters. Choose Source View > Define to set field/filter combinations. After running the filters, choose Source View > Add Customer to Plan to populate the source lines. Choose Source View > Clear to remove filters at Anywhere Mobility Solutions time.

Items tab

Field

Description

Item Code

An item code, item category, manufacturer, or vendor code, based on the Item Selection setting. Leave blank when Item Selection is All Items.

Item Description

Filled in automatically from the entered code. Reads "All Items" (non-editable) when no code is entered.

Estimated Quantity

The estimated quantity to be sold under the rebate. Used to calculate the estimated accrual amount. Optional.

Computation UOM

The unit of measure for accrual calculations. Restricted to units assigned to the item. Cannot be left blank at the line level.

Reference Value

The value from which the accrual is calculated: Price, Cost, Profit, or Quantity.

Multiplier Type

How the Multiplier Value is used: Percentage or Unit Amount.

Multiplier Value

The value to be accrued. If Multiplier Type is Percentage, enter as a whole number (for example, enter 10 for 10%). If Unit Amount, enter as a dollar amount.

Start Date

Starting date for this line's accrual calculation. Usually left blank to follow the header Start Date.

End Date

Ending date for this line's accrual calculation. Usually left blank to follow the header End Date.

Minimum Value

The minimum value required for the accrual to take effect. The same item can appear on several lines with different minimum values to define tiered rebate levels.

Over Reference Value

The value at which accruing starts. Automatically copied from Minimum Value but can be changed manually. Set to zero to accrue on all applicable amounts.

Accrual Amount

A flat amount applied to the accrual before additional calculations. Always a dollar amount.

Estimated Accrual Amount

Calculated as Estimated Quantity × Multiplier Value.

If Item Selection is Specific Item, use the Item View button to add items based on filters. Choose Item View > Define to set field/filter combinations, then choose Item View > Add Item to Plan to populate the item lines.

Accruals tab

This tab displays accrual values recorded for this accrual plan. Most fields are read-only.

Field

Description

Estimated Accrual Amount

The system-calculated estimated accrual amount based on Estimated Quantity and accrual terms.

Accrual Charge Amount

The sum of Anywhere Mobility Solutions accrual charges defined for the rebate. Drill down to view the Accrual Charge Lines.

Total Estimated Amount

The sum of Estimated Accrual Amount and Accrual Charge Amount. Also appears on the General tab.

Use Accrual Schedule

Select to use the Accrual Schedule feature. Setting this changes Accrual Posting Level to Plan automatically.

Scheduled Accrual Amount

The dollar amount scheduled to accrue to the plan (if accrual schedules are used). Drill down to view the Accrual Plan Schedule Lines.

Accrual Amount

The actual dollar amount accrued so far. Drill down to view ledger entries. Also appears on the General tab.

Accrual Posting Level

The level at which accruals are posted: Plan, Source, Document, or Document Line.

Payments tab

This tab displays information about how accrued amounts are paid out.

Field

Description

Estimated Accrual Amount

Same as on the Accruals tab.

Accrual Charge Amount

Same as on the Accruals tab.

Total Estimated Amount

Same as on the Accruals tab.

Use Payment Schedule

Select to use the Payment Schedule feature. Payment Posting Level changes to Plan automatically.

Scheduled Payment Amount

The dollar amount scheduled to pay out from the plan. Drill down to view the Accrual Plan Schedule Lines.

Payment Amount

The actual dollar amount paid out thus far. Drill down to view ledger entries. Also appears on the General tab.

Payment Posting Level

The level at which payments are posted: Plan, Source, Document, or Document Line. Cannot be more specific than Accrual Posting Level.

Payment Type

The party to whom the rebate is paid: Source Bill-to, Customer, Vendor, G/L Account, Payment Group, or Manual/None.

Payment Code

The payment account. Depends on Payment Type: inactive for Source Bill-to and Manual/None; a customer number, vendor number, G/L account number, or payment group code otherwise.

Payment Posting Options

What portion of payable accruals is paid: Immediate, Partially Paid, or Fully Paid. Only functions when Accrue on the header is set to Invoices/CMs.

Purchase Document Lines

Drill-down to the purchase document lines created when the payment was calculated.

Sales Document Lines

Drill-down to the sales document lines created when the payment was calculated.

Posting tab

This tab determines the settings involved with posting the marketing plan.

Field

Description

Computation Group

Assigns a computation group to the accrual for filtering purposes.

Price Impact

The effect the accrual amount has on an item's price on a document: None, Exclude from Price, or Include in Price. Applies only to Document Line posting level.

Accrual Posting Group

Determines where the accrual posts. Links to G/L accounts.

G/L Posting Level

The level at which this plan posts to the posting group: Summarized, Plan, Source, Document, or Document Line. Cannot be more specific than Accrual Posting Level.

Post Accrual w/ Document

Select to post accruals automatically with the transactions to which they apply.

Create Payment Documents

Select when accrual payments must be accompanied by sales credit memos or purchase invoices.

Post Payment w/ Document

Select to post accrual payments automatically with the transactions to which they apply. Not available when Create Payment Documents is set.

Edit Accrual on Document

Select to allow modifying accruals directly on the order. Selecting this automatically sets Post Accrual w/ Document as well.
