# Create an engineering change request

You can create an Engineering Change Request from several places in the application. This makes it easy to capture all comments, suggestions, issues, and ideas around a product.

The **Create Engineering Change Request** wizard is available from the following documents:

- **Sales Order**
- **Purchase Order**
- **Service Order**
- **Project**
- **Production Order**
- **Idea**
- **Registered Measurement**

## Steps

1. Choose the ![](https://cdn.document360.io/da662430-6a41-47b1-8c7e-7e4ac37a9756/Images/Documentation/search_small(1).png) icon (Alt+Q).
2. Type, for example, **Service Orders** to open the list.
3. Open an existing order and locate the **Create Engineering Change Request** wizard in the ribbon.
4. Complete the **Create Engineering Change Request** wizard:

| Field | Explanation |
| --- | --- |
| **First page** |
| Title | Type a short title for the request. |
| Other fields | Already populated based on the source document and the user. |
| **Second page** |
| Describe your change | Additional description besides the title. |
| Priority | Calculated from the selected **Severity** and **Impact**. |
| Severity | Select one of: **Low**, **Medium**, **High**, **Critical**. |
| Impact | Select one of: **Low**, **Medium**, **High**. |
| Deadline | Select a date when you want the change to be ready. |
| Type | Select **Item** or **BOM**. |
| No. | Specify the item or BOM number. |
| Location | Specify a location (captured in the app). |
| Picture | Upload a picture. |
5. Select **Finish** to complete the wizard.
