Copy budget to planning

Prev Next

To track budget vs actual numbers, Industrial Equipment Manufacturing provides the Copy to Planning action to create a connection between budget lines and planning lines. This connection is important in the forecasting function, where an estimate to completion is calculated.

Steps - Copy budget lines from the project task

  1. From the project task line, open the budget lines.

  2. In the project task budget lines, select Process > Copy to Planning. The page shows all lines that can be copied.

    • Budget lines of the type Resource No. and Group No. are copied. For these lines, the Breakdown function is optional.

    • Budget lines of the type Item can only be copied when a No. is specified. When the budget line is for an item category, first break it down into lines where the No. is specified.

    • Based on the type, planning lines can be opened from either an item planning line or a resource planning line.

    • Additional text lines (extended text) are linked to their parent line and copied with that parent line.

  3. In the Copy ProjectBudget to Planning selection page, lines that can be copied are pre-selected. To exclude a pre-selected line, uncheck the Accept field.

Steps - Copy budget lines from the project

  1. From the Project card, select Process and locate the Copy Budget to Planning action.

  2. Select Copy Budget to Planning to open the Copy ProjectBudget to Planning selection page.

  3. The page lists all ProjectBudget lines that can be copied and have not been copied yet.

  4. Click OK to copy the selected budget lines.

The Copy Budget to Planning page provides the following actions:

    • Select and Deselect: toggle the Accept field for all selected lines on the page.

    • Split: split the quantity of a line:

      1. Select the line for which you want to split the quantity.

      2. Select the Split action in the ribbon.

      3. A Split Line message appears showing the Quantity Per of the selected line.

      4. Enter the Qty. to Split: the quantity for the new line.

      5. Click Yes to confirm.

    • Show Copied Lines: shows all lines copied in previous actions. Copied lines are marked in the Copied field.
