# Convert items to lot control

You can convert a non-lot-controlled item to lot control by assigning a single lot number to that item's existing ledger entries. Once this initial lot number is assigned, future ledger entries can be given specific lot numbers.

> A database key group must be enabled before items can be converted to lot control. Perform this step in the development environment.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Convert to Lot Controlled**, and then choose the related link.
2. In the **No.** field on the first line, select a non-lot-controlled item number.
3. Fill in the other fields on the line.
4. Repeat this procedure for each item you want to convert to lot control.
5. On the **Actions** tab, in the **General** group, choose **Convert** to convert the entered items.
