The Duplicate Check Rules sub-grid on the Data Policy form is where you connect a Duplicate Check definition to a specific policy version and set the outcome behaviour. The same definition can be linked with different outcomes on different policy versions if needed.
You have already completed this as part of Link the Duplicate Check to a Policy Version. This section provides additional detail on the sub-grid fields and conditional rules.
Field Reference - Duplicate Check Rules Sub-grid
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Duplicate Check Id | Lookup to the Duplicate Check definition. Only Active definitions appear. |
Description | Auto-populated from the selected definition, based on the description entered on the Duplicate Check card. |
Outcome | Error = blocking (save is prevented). Warning = non-blocking (user clicks OK to proceed). |
Validation Message | The text shown to the user when a duplicate is detected. Write a message that tells the user what to do next. |
Active | Whether this duplicate check rule is active in this policy version. Set to on. |
No. of Active Duplicate Conditions | Read-only. How many active Data Conditions restrict when this check fires. 0 = fires for all records. |
Add a Condition to a Duplicate Check Rule (Optional)
Like validation rules, a duplicate check rule in the policy can have Data Conditions that restrict when the check fires. For example, you may want to check for duplicates only when a specific field is set to a certain value.
To add a condition:
Select the duplicate check rule row in the Duplicate Check Rules sub-grid.
Click Duplicate Check Conditions in the sub-grid action bar.
Add condition lines and filters following the same steps as for validation rule conditions (see Configure Data Conditions).
Duplicate Check Rules FactBox - Duplicate Constraints
On the right panel of the Data Policy form, the Duplicate Constraints factbox (below the Summary factbox) shows the fields being used for matching by whichever Duplicate Check Rule row is currently selected in the sub-grid.
Use this to quickly verify that the correct fields are configured in the underlying definition without having to navigate to the Duplicate Check card.
