# Assign routing information to activity based costs

You can assign pieces of equipment to a production BOM's activity based costs. This lets you identify different activity based costs depending on the piece of equipment on which production occurs. In addition, activity based costs can be assigned to specific routing operations through routing link codes. When a production order is scheduled to a piece of equipment, the program uses these routing link codes to assign the activity based cost value to the linked routing operation.

The following steps describe how to assign routing information to a package BOM's assigned activity based costs. The same procedure applies to formulas, item processes, and co-product/by-product processes. For simplicity, only a package BOM is described in detail.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Package BOMs**, and then choose the related link.
2. Open the relevant package BOM card. On the **Versions** FastTab, select the package BOM version that will have routings and choose **Edit Version**. The **Package BOM Version** page appears.
3. On the **Costs** FastTab, select the line for the activity based cost you want to link to a routing.
4. In the **Equipment No.** field, enter the piece of equipment you want to link to the activity based cost.
5. In the **Routing Link Code** field, assign a routing link code to the activity based cost.
