You can assign pieces of equipment to a production BOM's activity based costs. This lets you identify different activity based costs depending on the piece of equipment on which production occurs. In addition, activity based costs can be assigned to specific routing operations through routing link codes. When a production order is scheduled to a piece of equipment, the program uses these routing link codes to assign the activity based cost value to the linked routing operation.
The following steps describe how to assign routing information to a package BOM's assigned activity based costs. The same procedure applies to formulas, item processes, and co-product/by-product processes. For simplicity, only a package BOM is described in detail.
Steps
In the search box, enter Package BOMs, and then choose the related link.
Open the relevant package BOM card. On the Versions FastTab, select the package BOM version that will have routings and choose Edit Version. The Package BOM Version page appears.
On the Costs FastTab, select the line for the activity based cost you want to link to a routing.
In the Equipment No. field, enter the piece of equipment you want to link to the activity based cost.
In the Routing Link Code field, assign a routing link code to the activity based cost.
